Surrounded by mountains on three sides and with superb lake views below to the south, lies the typical Andalucian village of Periana. The village has all the usual facilities including supermarket, bars and inexpensive restaurants. Narrow steep streets are of a Moorish style and the food and local specialities reflect this. The area of Periana is a thriving olive and fruit growing region and the local ‘extra virgin’ olive oil is considered to be one of the finest in Spain. The surrounding countryside is completely unspoiled and of stunning beauty. Walking possibilities are infinite, and guides are available at the complex enabling you to make the most of the beautiful area around Lake Vinuela. For those seeking peace and space in beautiful surroundings, this area is ideal. Nature lovers will enjoy this area of the Costa del Sol with its many walks and cycle rides (mountain bikes available for hire on site) that take in unspoilt villages and ancient ruins. To the North are the Moorish sulphur baths of Banos de Vilo, recently restored and used for their medicinal properties. A 20min drive will take you to the coastal resort of Torre del Mar, 28km, which is famous for its fish restaurants and spacious beaches, whilst the attractive old town of Velez Malaga is a few km nearer and has excellent shops.
Cantueso is a small group of traditional Andalucían one and two bedroom cottages with superb views surrounded by lush gardens. Suitable for both couples and families with children, it is just 1.5km or 15 min walk from the village centre. Large fenced swimming pool (12m x 6m, Depth 0.5 – 2m) with easy access steps for children. There are a variety of activities on offer including boules, a ball games area, swings, a slide, billiards and table tennis. The complex also boasts its own bar and restaurant with children’s menu and free Wi-Fi Internet access. The restaurant also offers a take-away service. Washing machine for communal use (€4 per load payable locally).
One bedroom Cottage (Sleeps 2 adults plus 1 child): Living/Dining area with cot or sofa-bed, wood burning stove, TV/DVD. American style open-plan kitchen area with fridge, hob, microwave (no oven). Double bedroom. Bath/Shower/WC. Individual terrace. BBQ.
The following extras are available on request and some are charged extra (some payable locally): Cot, high chair, stair gate, extra bed, wood for wood burning stove, air-conditioning/electric heating (not in all houses. Please request at time of booking). Dogs are allowed on request. Any day changeover, min 4 night stay.
